I don’t recall where it was the first time I saw a Canopy Verde handbag but as soon as I did, I knew I had to have one. I like different, I adore unique and I refuse to spend hundreds just because of a brand name. I travel frequently, so I need durable and multipurpose. I needed that adorable Canopy Verde bag I saw.
I was given a sample handbag by Canopy Verde to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own and were not influenced.
About Canopy Verde
Linda Wong is a mompreneur who spent many months, and many prototypes, to perfect what has now become one of my favorite handbag companies. She has designed practical bags that are not only stylish, but they’re great for multitasking and are environmentally friendly.
Canopy Verde isn’t a huge multi-billion dollar company that relies on a brand name along; it’s a company that began because of a mom who had pride in her family, love for her neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY and a love for the environment.
Canopy Verde Uses Earth Friendly Materials
Canopy Verde uses organic cotton that has been certified by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), one of the trusted leaders in the industry. They use a dyeing process that is certified to be free of chemicals and harmful substances by OEKO-TEX, the recognized international standard for textile safety. Even the embroidery they use is AZO-free (AZO dyes, which can cause health problems after prolonged contact with the nose and mouth, are found in many fabrics), as well as recycled paper hangtags.
We try to create patterns that generate the smallest amount of wasted fabric. We recycle, compost, and minimize energy usage. We also try to ship the bags to customers using recycled boxes when possible.
The vegan collection of Canopy Verde bags is free of all animal products, as well. “After extensive research and trying out different fabrics,” Wong said on the website, “we found a vegan leather alternative that was animal free, while maintaining the luxurious look and feel of leather.”
What Else Make Canopy Verde Awesome?
Canopy Verde donate handbags to various causes, from the YWCA’s Purses for Passion in Minnesota to Habilitat in Hawaii. They’ve donated products to school auctions in Brooklyn, where Canopy Verde is based, including PS 321, PS 107, PS 39, and the Assembly of Arts and Letters. For Earth Day, the participated in raffles and giveaways with colleges across the country, including Oberlin, UCLA, and UCSD. That’s pretty cool!
I adore the look and sustainability aspect of Canopy Verde handbags and I adore the fact that the company was started by a mom. They’re adorable, affordable, and make a great gift whether you’re Vegan or just love fashionable handbags.
