I always joke that living in Ohio is like living in the middle of nothing. There’s nothing to do, nothing to see. But, that’s not entirely true, and our family proved that pretty easily this weekend. It’s been forever since either I or my husband have been to Kings Island and since we’re traveling for two weeks together without the kids (as long as I don’t sob beforehand), we needed to spend time with the kids having fun at a place we’d all enjoy.
Whether you want to take a selfie with your favorite Peanuts character, be a thrill seeker on one of their many coasters, or take a Tropical Plunge, Kingss Island in Mason, OH has something for every family member.

Tropical Plunge: All New At Kings Island
Soak City Waterpark is huge, you guys. You could seriously spend an entire day there, cooling off with more than 50 water activities, 36 water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, a 650,000-gallon wave pool, and more. The best part is – everything is included with your admission to Kings Island. All the more reason to buy a season pass, especially if you’re a local!
Despite wanting to spend time together, my 5-year-old and I headed to Lookout Lagoon, perfect for young ones, while the boys headed to Tropical Plunge, their newest water slide for thrill seekers.
Tropical Plunge is so huge, I had to stand nearly in the middle of the waterpark to get it all in the photo. It’s enormous and awesome! It’s a complex of six different water slide experiences towering nearly seven stories. Three of the slides on the 65-foot tall complex allow brave souls to climb inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they will wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume.
As if that wasn’t enough, Kings Island’s Tropical Plunge also features a slide that will send riders twisting and spiraling through an enclosed chute featuring four intense 360-degree loops across 449 feet of slide before they’re released out into a pool of water and dueling 337-foot long tube slides that zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns.
Of course, if death-defying water rides aren’t your thing, check out their milder water rides like Coconut Cove, Splash River, or just rent a Cabana and relax for the day.
Once you’re cooled off, be sure to throw back on your shirt, shoes, and shorts and take the train or a breezy walk back to the thrill rides, family rides, and Camp Snoopy now open at Kings Island in Mason, OH just outside of Cincinnati. Follow Kings Island on Facebook and on Twitter, as well.
