Back to school time means that we must now streamline our morning schedules, finding shortcut ways to get the kids the fulfilling breakfasts and being able to think quickly on my feet to create fun snacks for after school.
One brand we’ve always counted on is Quaker! In fact, last year I was a Quaker Classroom Ambassador because our family believes in the benefits of Quaker products. My daughter has always loved their oatmeal, my son is always snacking on their granola bars. I was trying to think of a way that I could combine the healthier things they love into a snack that we’d love together.
Who doesn’t love chocolate covered bananas? And, coated in Quaker granola bars gives them an added crunch and flavor that everyone loves. The kids have a great time making them, so we’re sharing our favorite snack with you!
Head to your local Walmart and grab delicious Quaker Chewy Dips for the topping of the chocolate covered frozen bananas. While you’re there, be sure to grab breakfast – Cap’N Crunch Peanut Butter and Quaker Oatmeal.
Since we don’t have a food processor, we ground the granola bars with our blender. You can grind them as fine as you’d like, but pressing the buttons on the blender is a great job for the little ones.
Listen, parents. You don’t have to be a hero; your kids won’t love you any less if you cheat and use a kit for your frozen bananas. I did! In fact, I found that using the kit, instead of melting hot chocolate on the stove, made it easier for the kids to help. It was safer, not as hot, so they could dip the bananas.
Peel your bananas and cut them in half. Insert the sticks and dip into the melted chocolate. Parents, try to resist the urge to eat them NOW. Once they’ve been dipped in chocolate, just sprinkle them with the ground Quaker granola bars and freeze them.
Shortly, you’ll have a delicious snack. You can wrap each one in plastic wrap and keep in the freezer for a quick after-school snack.
