It’s beyond the gates, where very few park goers trek, that you see the park’s animals and caretakers, talk to the caretakers and ask them questions, and learn about a typical day for both the animals and their keepers.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Backstage Tales tour is your exclusive opportunity to explore backstage animal housing areas, visit the Animal Nutrition Center to see how over 4 tons of food are prepared and given to the animals each day, tour the state-of-the-art veterinary hospital to see where animals are medically treated and often, guests have been lucky enough to see treatment or a surgery in action!
You’ll also visit the Animal Programs Administration building to learn how Disney promotes global wildlife conservation and animal well-being. You won’t just see your average Florida animal on this tour; we had the opportunity to be face-to-face with the endangered black and white rhinos, a Komodo Dragon and other exotic and exciting animals!
If you’re as lucky as we were, you might enjoy watching one of Disney’s hippos wake itself up with a warm dung bath. Yes, it absolutely is as pleasant as it sounds.
