Playmates Toys has done impressive work at creating a line of toys featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that my kids just can’t get enough of. Their latest addition to the line, the TMNT T-Sprints, is no exception. We were recently sent a set of the Turtles – including all four of the Heroes In A Half Shell – and had a bit of fun.
Each package features a very lightweight T-Sprint vehicle and turtle character along with a catalog of products that would make any TMNT fan – both old and new – start their Christmas wish list early.
The tiny catalog is likely the heaviest thing in the package. The characters are balanced on a wheel base that allows them to race with their vehicle or independently.
The racers and their vehicles are geared towards kids ages 4 and up and are available in six different styles:
- Lickety Split Leo with Shellraiser
- Dasher Donnie with Patrol Buggy
- Mad Motion Mikey with Party Van
- Rapid Assault Raph with Stealth Bike
- Supersonic Shredder with Shreddermobile
- Speedy Splinter with Rat Attack
Soon you’ll also be able to purchase the Sewer Duel Playset for the TMNT T-Sprints.
At first, when we opened the packages, we thought that the Turtles snapped into the vehicles. Instead, you just rev them up and then place them in the vehicle. They will each push the lightweight vehicle forward. Because of this, it’s very difficult for a single child to race more than one at a time, as it requires a lot of coordination. Even for me, it was tricky revving two up and placing them correctly in each vehicle before their stamina wore down.
You can find the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-Sprints on Amazon, at Toys ‘R’ Us, or other local toy retailers for around $5-$6 each.
