I’m so excited about our honeymoon to Ireland this summer that it’s nearly tempting to skip the wedding altogether and just get right to the honeymooning. We’ve both wanted to visit Ireland our entire lives so we’re making sure we have everything we need for the perfect trip. The best lenses for my camera for stunning landscape photos, comfortable hiking shoes, and the best way to carry cash and which credit card we should use.
We’ve done a lot of research on credit cards to take with us overseas. First and foremost, we wanted to avoid crazy Foreign Transaction Fees, which we found many credit cards had. Even the few credit cards we have now have Foreign Transaction Fees attached to them. The new Discover It Miles Card has no Foreign Transaction Fees, which is awesome. It also has no annual fee which is a deal maker for us!
You might recognize the Discover It Miles card from the commercials; unlike any other card, you can actually freeze your account in seconds with an on/off switch on the mobile app or website to prevent new purchases when you’ve misplaced your card.
Benefits Of Being A Discover It Miles Cardmember
Discover It Miles card members earn 1.5x miles for every dollar spent on their purchases. Then, miles can be redeemed at any amount for cash or as a statement credit toward their travel purchases, including commercial airline tickets, hotel rooms, car rentals, commuter transportation and taxicabs. We can actually earn rewards for future travel while we’re traveling!
If you’re not already a card member, Discover It Miles is offering an introductory offer. Card members will now receive double the amount of miles they’ve earned at the end of their first year – with no spending cap. That gives travelers using the Discover It Miles Card the opportunity to determine for themselves the amount of bonus miles they receive in that first year.
This is great news for us since we’ve already applied for, and was approved, for our very first Discover It Miles card in time for our honeymoon.
