My family doesn’t usually make New Year’s resolutions but this year was different. Since my son is leaving for basic training in June, we’ve made it our goal to spend more time together as a family. Whether it’s taking a road trip or making time for family game night, quality time together is our goal!
It’s hard to believe that in just 6 months, my baby – my first born and my only son – is leaving our home. We always joked that as soon as he turned 18 we’d kick him out of the house. This month, he turned 18 and now, more than ever, we’re trying so hard to keep him closer. This means no matter how cheesy he thinks game night is, it’s now on our weekly agenda until the day he leaves for Fort Leonard Wood.
Why Time Together Is Important For Every Family
Eating meals together, sharing the events of your day, and even playing a game together has been shown to build self-esteem in children and create a stronger family bond. I used to think this meant that we’d have to gather around a traditional “square meal” with all the food groups. I’ve learned, however, that it doesn’t matter what you eat – although you want to keep it healthy; just as long as you’re eating together.
How I Found More Time With My Family
It’s true. Every now and then we all love that full spread, homecooked family meal. But spending that much time in the kitchen is taking away from the time you could be spending with your family. We found a super delicious way to create a cheat meal – one that allows me more time with my kiddos and tastes just as good as homecooked.
I know what you’re thinking… really? Frozen entrées? The answer is absolutely! On-Cor has created meals that you can cook without slaving over a hot stove. Just pop them in the oven and while they’re baking, you can play a quick game of Life with the kiddos. One of our favorite entrées is Barbeque Sauce & 6 Boneless Rib Shaped Patties; we eat them over mashed potatoes or often, we’ll make sandwiches with them.
Their multi-serve entrées feature popular varieties that offer a delicious convenient option for family meals. On-Cor does that prep work for you so that you can take care of your to-do list while you’re making dinner. We all know how moms are the ultimate multi-taskers and this is how we do it right!
On-Cor has a simple mission—to offer quality, multi-serve entrées that everyone loves. We always make sure we have at least one On-Cor entrée in the freezer just in case. You can find them in the freezer section at Walmart or at a store near you. From hearty entrées to microwave favorites, convenience has never tasted so delicious. No frills, no fancy. Just really, really good food.
To help you spend more time with your family, our friends at On-Cor are giving one of our lucky readers a game night prize pack!
