Here in the Midwest, when the season change, especially from winter to spring, we could experience a 65 degree Monday and 32 degree Tuesday – in the same week! I remember when my son was young, he would frequently get bronchitis and sinus infections. We’d have to run a hot shower and sit on the sink to breathe the steam. Just fill the reservoir with Distilled water (we found this for a buck in a milk jug-type container at the grocery store), attach the mask (two different sizes are provided), turn on and adjust steam temperature as desired. We did wash the mask with warm soapy water before use, but the unit itself requires no internal cleaning. As long as there is no water in MyPurMist before storage, it designed to prevent and kill germs that grow in the reservoir, and does not germs in the mist that you breathe.(Our daughter was surprisingly cooperative because she was fascinated with the mask.)
